October consisted of 31 commissioned photography assignments. I was on the road nationally every day. This commission to photograph Charles and Lila and their amazing estate for The Telegraph ‘Saturday’ supplement. Briefed simply to shoot interior, exteriors and portraits.
One of the few sunny days for photography in October
The weather was good for photography as I travelled to West Sussex to meet Hon Charles Pearson and his wife Lila. Although the forecast was for rain midday. On arrival we headed straight outside for the photography to make the most of the Autumn light before it disappeared. The light was quite harsh so a warm reflector was required for the portraits outside. There was a slight breeze which was a sign the weather was soon changing.
Pitshill, a beautiful 18th-century eight-bedroomed Palladian mansion. Built by the Mitford family then renovated by the Pearson family over the last 18 years photographed beautifully. Composition was easy with all it’s straight lines and open vast rooms. The only headache was framing the large paintings and furniture and avoiding reflections with interior lighting.
