Commissioned to photograph the preview photocall of ‘Faces of a Queen:the Armada Portraits of Elizabeth’ exhibition, Queen’s House, southeast London, UK
Painted to mark the failed attempt by the Spanish Armada to invade England in 1588. The images were curated by an unknown artists during the height of Queen Elizabeth‘s power.
The exhibition room was fairly low light. This photography assignment required a tripod and slow shutter speed shot on a prime 24mm f1.4 lens.
There’s not many news photo assignments where you get away with using a tripod. But on this photography assignment a nice depth of field across the three paintings was necessary. It also required all the other photographers attending this to stand still and not make any movement…thanks guys.
