My second encounter with Bill Bailey in 2020. This time commissioned to photograph Bill after his success winning Strictly Come Dancing. Greeting him outside his house the following morning Bill and his wife Kris very kindly brought out a tray of tea and mince pies to get us ready for the photographs on a cold crisp December morning. Social distancing as Bill has been in a very ‘strict’ bubble!
Bill Had A Spring in His Step
Considering Bill had been through a demanding physical challenge which only concluded the previous night he still had a spring in his step. Luckily the road Bill resides on is quite wide and due to the Coronavirus Lockdown restrictions there wasn’t much traffic. It was a beautiful clear morning with a contrasty winter light coming across the road. Bill did a few poses in the road, then I asked him if he could try something else. Bill leapt up similar to a ballerina clicking his heels in the air giving me the opportunity for the photograph. I was quite amazed how quick and agile he was. Elevating himself sufficiently even though he was wearing a thick overcoat. You only get one crack at a photo moment such as this with a man who’s been dancing the whole previous night!
