2022 as an Editorial Photographer and Commercial Photographer was an extraordinary year.
Looking back it doesn’t feel possible! Photographing 3 different British Prime Ministers inside Downing Street in 7 weeks. The unbelievable HRM Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations over the extended summer bank holiday, only to photograph her funeral weeks later. A truly sad news story to cover. Bringing the best of the British to the streets of London on both occasions.
I had the honour as a photographer to be assigned ROTA positions on various historic moments not seen for 70 years.
One assignment included photographing HRM Queen Elizabeth’s coffin as she was carried into Westminster Hall surrounded by the Royal Family. A moment I will never forget, the photographs published in editorial magazines and newspapers worldwide. In between all of this, there was an assignment photographing the Duchess of Cambridge joining the SailGP team where I was assigned the SOLO ROTA position capturing her royal highness sailing a catamaran across the sea with the rest of the Royal pack in toe trying to get a better position than my boat. I had a very good skipper who got our boat yards from the catamaran as she flew past!
Commercial shoots for McDonald’s, Netflix, Warner Bros, United Nations, Riverstone Living, Klar Partners, Platinum Jubilee Pageant, etc
Commercial assignments included corporate team portraits for various London City firms. Exclusive behind-the-scenes for the Platinum Jubilee Pageant. Shoots with Hollywood stars for Netflix and Warner Bros including the very photogenic Andrew Garfield. Once the football season gained pace shoots for McDonald’s activity campaigns with various well-known British sports stars, one of them the lovely Beth Mead ahead of England Lioness’s European success who was a dream to work with. In the autumn I had the surreal assignment of photographing Iris the robot speaking inside one of the committee rooms at the Houses of Westminster.
Foreign assignments ranging From Helsinki to Kigali
I also had the privilege to travel down to Rwanda on assignment for The Daily Telegraph to photograph the operations the United Nations have put in place to help the continuing asylum migration across Africa. I loved the Kigali people, friendly and helpful. I walked one day from my hotel to the downtown markets absorbing all the local culture, never once feeling endangered. Earlier in 2022 back to one of my favourite Northern European cities photographing the underground bunkers in Helsinki. A beautiful city with delightful Scandinavian architecture and food.
2022 was truly a year to remember as a photographer. Many thanks to all the wonderful clients who commissioned me during the last 12 months.
