Thursday began with a fragrant editorial portrait commission. Starting with a tour around the perfume exhibition at Somerset House. Perfume: A Sensory Journey Through Contemporary Scent at Somerset House.
Editorial portrait of Killian Wells perfumier of ‘Dark Ride’
I was there to take portraits for an interview with self styled ‘punk perfumier’ Killian Wells. The Bad boy pioneer currently has an installation at the perfume exhibition running at Somerset House. Exploring today’s scent scene through the work of ten perfume pioneers from the past two decades.
Killian Wells started his own range ten years ago. Not interested in making traditional aromas – he wanted to do something different. Making self-styled scents which smelt of new trainers, marijuana, and one of his famous creations ‘Dark Ride’, a mildewy, stagnant, chlorine-inspired perfume.
Wells, who as well as being a perfume provocateur is also a successful record producer and singer-songwriter. Recently writing the song to accompany the launch called Blue Dream, fusing together his passion for music and perfume.
